We are now signing up new Scouts for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts in Pack 3017.
Pack 3017 has about 100 active scouts each year and draws scouts from schools across Singapore. Our current program covers scouts in American grades 1-5 (or equivalents).
Our normal Pack year runs from September through May, with a couple events over the summer. The annual registration is in August, normally on a Saturday near the end of the month at the Singapore American School. This year it is on Saturday August 26, in the morning, at Singapore American School.
The Pack meets about once every 6-8 weeks on a Friday evening at 7 pm at SAS -- this is when we do our awards ceremony combined with other activities. Normally scouts attend this with a parent. About once a month the Pack also has a Pack activity where the location, day and time changes depending on the activity -- we go to a park for "Wheel Day" (bicycles, scooters, etc.), a campout at a Singapore Scouting campsite, service projects at various locations, etc.
The Pack is divided into dens based on age. Each den has around 7-10 scouts. The dens meet once or twice a month and the day of the week and location depend upon the den. We have dens that meet near SAS, and have dens that meet in the City. Some meet weekday nights, some Saturdays, and some Sundays. We do our best to pair Scouts with dens based on location and day of meeting preferences.
Our dues for 2017-2018 are $295. They cover, primarily, our dues to BSA and to the Far East Council -- but also all Pack Activities like our banquet and campout, and awards, an activity shirt, and your cap and handbook. They will also cover some den expenses. If there are special activities or materials that your den needs to purchase, you may be asked for additional funds.
We are a parent-volunteer run organization and expect all parents to help either/both with their den and with the Pack activities and Pack Leadership. We find that the scouts get the most out of the experience when we have active parents who support the Den and Pack Leaders.
